Our Daily Bread for 8 March 2022 – Pretty Feet

How beautiful sound the footsteps of him on the mountains who bring good tidings of joy and peace and salvation. [Isaiah 52:7]
American John Nash received the 1994 Nobel Prize in Economics in recognition of his pioneering work in mathematics. His equations have since been used by companies around the world to understand the dynamics of competition and rivalry. A book and a feature-length film have documented his life, calling him a “beautiful spirit” for his accomplishments.

The Old Testament prophet Isaiah uses the word beautiful to describe feet. This is not because of any visible physical feature, but because he sees the beauty in what they do. “How beautiful sound the footsteps of him on the mountains who brings good tidings of joy and peace and salvation” (verse 7).

After 70 years of captivity in Babylon suffered by God’s people because of their disobedience to God, messengers come with the encouraging words that God’s people may soon return home because “the Lord delivered Jerusalem” (verse 9). .

The good news does not apply to the military might of the Israelites or other human endeavors. Instead, it is the work of God’s “holy arm” moving them for them (verse 10). The same is true today because through Christ’s sacrifice for ourselves we have gained victory over our spiritual enemy. Therefore, we become bearers of the good news, proclaiming peace, good news, and salvation to those around us. And we do it with beautiful feet.

Who brought you the good news of Christ’s sacrifice? To whom can you take this good news?
Thank you Father for sending people to me who brought me the message of Jesus’ sacrifice. Help me to joyfully share this message with others.
