TOPIC: – BEWARE OF SELF DECEPTION!
Welcome! Share the story below with me “A church member told his pastor that he was going to the Holy Land. He said that it was his intention to visit Mount Sinai. ‘In fact,’ he told the minister, ‘I plan to climb to the top of that mountain, and read the Ten Commandments aloud when I get there.” Thinking this would please the pastor, he was surprised to hear, “You know, I can think of something even better than that.” The man responded, “You can Pastor! And what might that be?” He replied rather bluntly, “Instead of traveling thousands of miles to read the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai, why not stay right here at home and keep them?” Amazing! Have you been to any typical Pentecostal or charismatic service?
When the preacher is preaching, you will hear things like: “Ride on preacher”, “That’s right pastor”, “Preach on preacher”, “Yes sir”, etc! Then, they would garnish it with lots of shouts and acclamations. But just minutes or barely an hour after service, they forget what the message was all about, and when they get home and somebody asked: “How was service today?” all you’ll hear would be: “ Wow! Service was awesome, powerful and in fact the message was hot!” Wow! Such people just went to church to answer, “Present sir/ma.” They have little or nothing to do with the Word. Don’t be like them in this 2nd half of 2023 and don’t be like the Christian brother in today’s story whose aim of going to the Holy land, was to stand on Mount Sinai to blast out the Ten Commandments without keeping them. Vs. 22 of today’s Word say: “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
Close with Akita G: “Until we realize that true Christianity is a community of people committed to the cause of obeying Jesus Christ, then, we just believed in vain.” Pray seriously now! 3. You powers contesting with my ability to obey God; dry up, dry up, dry up NOW in Jesus name (Pray it seriously and decree that HOLINESS will be your name).
4. My Father, my Father, as I obey Your Word, decorate my life with results this year in Jesus name. Read Isaiah 1:19 and pray seriously now.
5. Pray about today now as you are led.
