TOPIC: YOU CAN ONLY RULE OVER WHAT YOU DIE TO!
Today’s first scripture says: “If any man come to Me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.” I have never ceased to be amazed each time I come across Luke’s version of that scripture! Now, what will you call a man or woman who “HATES” her husband, his wife, children, parents, brothers, sisters, friends and above all himself? That man can be described as DEAD or NON- EXISTENT because hating the aforementioned means you can no more be comfortable on planet earth!
It means there are seasons you can tell your spouse, child, blood relations or your best friend: “Get thee behind me, Satan.” What the Holy Ghost is saying to a user of today’s devotional is that you must get to a point where you are DEAD TO EVERYTHING BECAUSE ONLY DEAD MEN CAN RULE! God wants you to die to food (so you can endure the inconveniences of fasting)! He wants you dead to sleep (so you can do night prayer battles)! He wants you dead to human praise (so, you can be humble, no matter how He uses you)!
He wants you dead to sex (Why do you still live in immorality – the commonest sin on earth today?) . Jehovah wants you dead to criticism/human opinion (so people’s opinions do not move you – what should move you is what God says about you). Be dead to fear of the future! Get to a point of: “IF I PERISH, I PERISH, BUT I WILL NEVER STOP TRUSTING GOD!” To see more divine favour, you must be dead to your career or money (Why is giving tough for you?). Listen: You can only rule over what you are dead to! That was why Solomon ruled his world; he was dead to things! Till You Are “Dead” To A Thing, You Cannot Rule Over That Thing! As 2023 runs its course, relax in His will and let today’s devotional escort you to the cemetery of self! Go, surrender all again and “be dead” today! Pray now! 1. Pray about today’s word generally as led now.
2. Satan, you are a liar! I am dead to sin from today! I am dead to fear of the future! I am dead to anxiety! I am dead to food! I die to anger, lying, bitterness or sex! I am dead to sleep, men,women, etc! Ask for grace to be holy as 2023 skips on. I must end this year in purity in Jesus name.
3. Lord God, I surrender the following areas of my life and ministry to you today in Jesus name. (Mention any area where you need to be dead to).
4. Pray generally about today now and still pray about your expectations for 2023.
