TOPIC: DANGEROUS FOXES OF 2023
Verse 15 of today’s scripture shows the power and craftiness of little foxes, attitudes, sins, actions, etc, which may appear harmless, yet they spoil the vine and waste destinies. In this year 2023, be watchful and vigilant concerning the so-called harmless small sins/habits. Ask God to do a spiritual surgical operation on you and your family and take away the little but dangerous “foxes.” The little fox in Abraham’s life was, rushing ahead of God (impatience).
That of Moses was bad temper (anger). That of Samson was lust and sexual sin. That of Saul, Pride. That of Paul was the tendency to be proud (remember the “thorn in his flesh” used to humble him)? That of Peter was tribalism, etc. What is yours? Yes! None of us is perfect but determine to reject and uproot it! People speak of white lies, etc. Are they right? No! No! No! In Rev. 22:15, the Bible classifies the murderers, witches (sorcery), and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie (not lies) as one.
The poem below is titled, “The small lie.” It is instructive: “In the middle of the night, Two blind boys got up to fight, The deaf policeman who heard the noise took up his gun, The lame who was sitting on the road, ran there to separate them, If you don’t believe it, go to the blind men who saw it all.” Of course, you don’t need the divine gift of discernment to know it’s all a lie because blind men don’t see, lame people don’t run and deaf people don’t hear.
Lies for example, look harmless but remember that the Amalekites Saul spared, later grew to become great and produced a Goliath who became a problem to Israel! Deal with that little sin now, before it destroys your vine (destiny). Hebrews 12:1-2 declares, “Let’s lay aside every weight and sin which so easily besets us…” Toying with sin invites disaster! A bad habit is like a soft chair: easy to get into but hard to get out of.
