Welcome to another devotional hour of moving from INSULTS to RESULTS! I decree that nobody will eat your harvest or results in Jesus name. I remember that years ago, MARIA do Carom Jeronimo, a former slave in Brazil, whose lack of a birth certificate prevented her recognition and award as the world’s oldest woman, died at 129 years. The Guinness Book of Records said the baptismal registry of the church was not enough and demanded a birth certificate, which could not be produced. So she lost an opportunity to be rewarded/celebrated.
May God help us never to suffer loss this year! As you live your life on planet earth, always remember daily that someday, every work you do for God or in His name will be tried and judged by fire. The motive behind every service rendered and work done, shall be judged. Always remember that it is possible to do right for the wrong reasons. Our meditation today in Verse 13 says, “Every man’s work shall be made manifest (open); for the day shall declare it because, it shall be revealed by fire…”. Read that verse again!Watch your motives!
God looks at the heart. Some preach Christ out of envy; others render services even in the house of God out of pride (desire to be seen or heard). But note that the day of judgment shall declare it. May your reward and labour not be in vain. Our works are compared to gold, silver, precious stones, wood , hay, stubble, etc. Some become purer in the fire, while others are totally destroyed. Yea! You shall not suffer loss! Check your motives daily in this year 2023! The reason behind every action is crucial to God. Men look at the action but God looks at the reason behind the action! Revelation l:14 describing the LORD says, “…and His eyes were like a flame of fire.” Ah!
His eyes will judge every work! Don’t work to be seen, praised or to compete with anyone. Work for God with a pure heart and pure motive. Man crowns success but God crowns success with pure motives.Close with this: “The heart has its reasons which reason knows nothing of” -Pascal. Check your motives daily. Pray seriously now! PRAYER POINTS: Take Song 2: What a friend… 1. Lord, I repent from wrong motives behind any action I have taken or want to take for God or man. 2. Holy Spirit, reveal to me areas of my life where my work is not pure. Pass my work for You through the fire now! 3. My harvest and my labour for God shall not be in vain. 4. In this year 2023, I determine that I shall not work to be seen. Pray about today now and re-dedicate your life!
